Co Workers
  • Most Companies completely fail to get very Productive Staff, which is why many businesses are not as Profitable as they could be and why most are sold for less they are worth - New management will  always get your staff to be more Productive than you can, right ?

  • Few companies actively manage their staff to focus on improving their ability to do their job better and deliver more. Many staff could do their job better, every single day, but few are motivated to do that, because few are managed and motivated to do their job better.

  • Few Companies even measure Productivity, let alone target it and use it to motivate their staff to do better consistently to improve their Productivity and even staff Pay can be linked to higher levels of productivity.

  • Most Small Business Directors don’t understand that having a Productive staff requires managers to train, manage and encourage staff and congratulate staff when they consistently achieve their potential, by planning, executing, collaborating and using their IT on the job very well.

  • Most Company Directors don’t understand that Productivity is the single largest component of their Profits, if they did they would be much more Profitable.

Step 1

Job Descriptions

Working from Home
  • Few companies have Job Descriptions for every single member of their staff. You need to

  • So, if you don’t how do your staff know what is required of them, every single work day?

  • How do Staff know what Standard of work is required of them, for every single job you expect them to do, every day, every week, every month, every quarter?

  • Who checks not only have your staff have done every job, but done each on time, without making repeated mistakes, without using up too much equipment and that the follow-on job is not delayed waiting for them to complete the first job in the Link?

  • Each Job Description also needs to include jobs each person covers when a member of staff is off, for sickness etc.. This will help also make your company much more resilient.

Step 2

Eradicate task Duplications

Organizing Data
  • Once all your staff have Job Descriptions, is it worth your while combining them all to see all the work your Company need done and want done is completed satisfactorily?

  • You need to check that each piece of work is cross-checked, done correctly and rectified?

  • You need to make sure each popular job is not rushed, each unpopular job is completed.

Step 3

Create staff hierarchy

Organizing Data
  • You need to ensure any manager is trained to manage people, before they start managing anyone. Most people leave their jobs because they are badly managed, Micro-Managed, Over-Managed, Mis-Managed. There are more phrases for Poor Management than good.

  • Good management is mostly trained in to people. People who start a business are often good Sales people, or good Finance people, or good Engineering people, extremely few are good at running every aspect of the entire business, but that is the position that they are forced to take on as the business succeeds and grows and grows in to.

  • One of the worst things you can do is promote someone internally, to manage a team they used to be part of, because the first thing you do is reduce the Productivity of that team (they sell less, take much longer to all do the work and waste a lot of inputs doing the work) and put the promoted person in a position they are not trained to be any good at. Even worse, the new team leader is not trained to manage people and cheese some of them off so much that they leave. Sound familiar? Train staff for their new position first.

Step 4

Set stretching standards

High Fives
  • Measure Productivity, Target Productivity, Manage Productivity, Celebrate Productivity.

  • Every Job Description should have Productivity targets for staff to achieve individually and collectively, so that they help one another out, cover for one another when on holiday or away, sick. This also encourages resilience and additional redundancy inside the team.

Step 5

Set team standards

Business Team
  • By recognising Productivity in the company, rewarding it and raising awareness across your Company of Productivity, it will reinforce the sustainability of your Profits.

  • Identify who needs training to do their job better, with less waste, less effort and to work better with their colleagues. A lot of training can be done internally, the more experienced can train the less experienced, the more Productive can show others how to be more Productive and everyone needs Technology /IT training every year. Each member of staff also needs to be trained and kept updated on their alternative jobs when covering absence.

  • Finally, staff should only be paid more in line with their Productive. In fact increased pay should only be increased in line with their Productivity. If your staff are more productive, you are more profitable, their efforts, dedication and consistency should be rewarded.
